the practice of scientific speech and writing enables productive and critical discourse; often it also perpetuates normative and established structures. research however has the purpose and responsibility to take positions of uncertainty in order to allow for the creation of new insight and deeper understanding. we must understand that knowledge does not result from a passive reflection of an objective world, but rather that research is actively shaped by researchers.

when knowledge and its transfer are treated as commodities, this can result in the undermining of a genuine learning process. in this regard, the structural conditions of education require liberation from capitalist orientation. at best, science and knowledge dissemination transgress established boundaries (…)

Mira Magdalena Sickinger is an writer and a praedoc at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Vienna. Her research and publications focus on the philosophy of language, aesthetics and epistemology, with a specialization in humour theory. She has published in and edited philosophical anthologies and journals (Grazer Philosophische Studien, Kriterion – Journal of Philosophy, The Philosophy of Humor Yearbook). Her literary work has been published in literary magazines, including Lichtungen, perspektive. Sickinger’s poetry debut Für euch vergossen. poesophie came out with Klever in 2024.
