Kitsch and crisis. Clarifying science communication in the present day
Scientists should communicate more and in a more understandable way; they should seek out the public and, ideally, educate them. But what risks does this approach entail?
The Vienna Lecture on Science Communication 2026 will take place on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., in cooperation with the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The guest speaker will be German political scientist Prof.in Astrid Séville (University of Lüneburg and Sir Peter Ustinov Visiting Professor 2022 at the University of Vienna). The venue is the ballroom of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Dr.-Ignaz-Seipel-Platz 2, 1010 Vienna. The lecture will be held in German. Registration is required to attend. Places will be allocated in the order in which registrations are received.
