Tickets on sale for 3rd Science Ball

Large demand due to late semester break – Past balls all sold out

13939401_657418807745243_7957485962354048390_nVienna (OTS) – Starting Monday, November 14, tickets for the 3rd Vienna Ball of Sciences are available in the web shop. As the previous events were sold out early, the Chair of the Organizing committee Oliver Lehmann expects for this year’s ball night an even greater demand, also as the semester break this year starts one week later. Tickets can be booked at www.wissenschaftsball.at/shop/.

Regular tickets are available for the price of € 90,-. Tickets for students remain with the same price as last year, € 25,-, same as the patronage of a loge of honour (€ 4800,-) and a table of honour (€ 3600,-) in the ballroom as well as for a table in the adjoining halls (€ 1600,-).

Following the tradition of the previous year, the organizing committee presents a special offer – “Be my guest”-tickets, similar to caffè sospeso: benefactors may buy in addition to their regular ticket of € 90.- a student’s ticket (regularly € 25.-). Both tickets are available in the “Be my guest”-package for a reduced total price of € 110.-. The ticket is then passed on to students, who would love to attend the ball, but are not able to afford the tickets.

The refugee initiative “more” of the Universities Austria (Universitätenkonferenz uniko) remains an important partner, with all Austrian universities involved, as well as the Austrian Student Union (ÖH), Caritas, Diakonie, Industriellenvereinigung (IV) and further institutions. Together with the ball partner Casinos Austria, all generated money at the roulette-table goes to the refugee initiative “more”.

All ballrooms in the Vienna town hall will be transformed into an open-plan lab of brilliant entertainment. The program offers contributions from Viennese universities and classical ball elements as the opening polonaise and a quadrille at midnight, but also a scientific loaded disco. Further program highlights will be announced within the upcoming weeks, as well as the ball testimonials rooted in science, economy, culture and society.

The advertisement for the Ball already kicked off intensely. The first ball posters – this year designed by Thomas Kriebaum – may be spotted around town. Also, first posts and information are posted in social media at #SciBall. The last year’s ball had on Facebook over 1,3 million contacts. For the first time, the homepage www.wissenschaftsball.at presents itself completely bilingual in German and English.

Austrian Airlines and Austria Trend Hotels are supporting the ball same as last year with special offers and discounts for guests travelling from other parts of Austria or from abroad to join the ball.

Oliver Lehmann, Chair of the Organizing Committee: “We already now observe that we expect even more people interested in this ball due to the late semester break this year. We take it as a demonstration, that we are right on track with our concept of the Vienna Ball of Sciences – which we are very pleased about. “
